Home Tech
Technology help, at a comfortable pace.
Nothing rushed, nothing assumed and nothing explained in language you have to decode afterwards. Questions are the point of the visit, not an interruption to it.
At a glance
- Unhurried, without jargon
- Written notes left behind
- Scam and safety guidance included
- Family can be included by phone or call
Most difficulty with technology is design, not ability.
Devices are built on the assumption that everyone has been following along for the last twenty years. Menus move between updates, text defaults to small, and important buttons look the same as decorative ones. Struggling with that is a completely reasonable response to how these things are made.
So the approach is different. We work at your pace, change the settings that make a device easier to see and use, and write down the steps for the things you want to do regularly. If something needs repeating three times, it gets repeated three times.
What it covers
What this usually includes
- Making devices easier to use
- Larger text, higher contrast, louder and clearer audio, simplified home screens and fewer notifications competing for attention.
- Video calls with family
- Set up so that calling a grandchild is one recognisable button, not a sequence of steps to remember.
- Email and photos
- Sending, receiving, saving attachments and finding the photos people send you — practised together rather than just configured.
- Scam awareness
- What the common phone, email and pop-up scams actually look like, and a simple rule for what to do when something feels off.
- Written notes to keep
- Clear, large-print steps for the tasks you do most, left beside the device so nothing depends on remembering it on the day.
- Passwords you can manage
- A method for keeping track of sign-in details that is both secure and realistic to actually use.
- Setting up something new
- A new tablet, phone or computer configured from scratch, with the settings chosen for how you will use it.
- Keeping family in the loop
- Where you want it, a summary sent to a family member so the same explanation does not have to happen twice.
For the family member reading this
If you are the household's unofficial IT department from two hours away, this is a reasonable thing to hand over. Setup, explanation and the follow-up questions are all part of it, and you can be included in the summary afterwards.
Never asked for over the phone
Ketweb will never ring you unprompted about a virus, never ask for your password, and never ask for payment in gift cards. Anyone who does is not us, regardless of what their caller ID says.
Follow-up is expected
Remembering everything from one visit is not realistic and is not the standard being set. Getting in touch again with a question about something already covered is entirely fine.
What if I need something explained more than once?
That is completely normal and is planned for. The pace is set by you, and anything worth repeating gets repeated — then written down so it does not have to be held in your head.
Can my son or daughter arrange this for me?
Yes, and that happens often. Family can book the visit, join by phone while it happens, and receive a written summary afterwards.
I think I may have been scammed. Can you help?
Yes. The priority is securing accounts, checking whether remote-access software was installed and making sure nothing is still running. Bring whatever details you have — there is nothing embarrassing about it, and these scams are designed by professionals to work.
Do you come to the house?
Yes, across Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Aldergrove and Langley. Some things can also be sorted over the phone or remotely if you would prefer.
