Computer help that fixes the cause, not just the symptom.

Whether it has slowly become unusable or stopped working overnight, we work out what is actually wrong and explain it in language that makes sense.

At a glance

  • Windows and macOS
  • Laptops and desktops
  • Often solved remotely the same day
  • Your files stay yours — nothing is wiped without asking

A slow computer is a symptom, not a diagnosis.

The same complaint — "it has got really slow" — can come from a failing drive, a machine that has run out of storage, a dozen programs launching at startup, an update stuck halfway, or a browser carrying more extensions than it can handle. Replacing the computer solves all of them, which is why it is so often suggested. It is also usually unnecessary.

Diagnosis comes first. If the honest answer is that a seven-year-old laptop is not worth investing in, you will be told that plainly along with what to buy instead. More often, the machine has years left in it once the actual cause is dealt with.

Worth a look if

  • Starting up takes several minutes
  • The fan runs constantly and the case is hot
  • Programs freeze, or the screen goes white while you wait
  • Updates fail and then fail again
  • Pop-ups or a browser homepage you did not choose
  • You have a new computer still in the box

What it covers

What computer help usually involves

Diagnosis
Checking drive health, storage, memory pressure, temperatures and startup load before changing anything, so the fix matches the fault.
Cleanup and tuning
Removing software you did not install, trimming what launches at startup and clearing out the accumulated clutter that is actually slowing things down.
Malware and unwanted software
Removing adware, browser hijacks and anything that installed itself, then closing the door that let it in.
New computer setup
Getting a new machine ready properly — accounts, software, printers, updates and your data moved across from the old one.
Data transfer and recovery of access
Moving files, photos and browser data between machines, and getting you back into accounts you can no longer sign into.
Backups that actually run
Setting up a backup you do not have to remember, and confirming it is working rather than assuming it is.
Sensible upgrades
Where a machine is worth keeping, more memory or a solid-state drive can change it completely for a fraction of a replacement.
Honest replacement advice
If it is time for a new computer, you get specifications that match what you actually do — not the most expensive option on the shelf.

What changes

What you end up with

  • A computer that starts and responds at a normal speed
  • A clear explanation of what was wrong
  • Backups switched on and verified
  • Your files and accounts where you expect them
  • Fewer of the pop-ups and prompts you were ignoring
  • A straight answer on how much life the machine has left

FAQ

Questions about this service.

Will I lose my files?

No. Nothing is erased without discussing it with you first, and where there is any risk to the data the first step is a copy of it. If a drive is already failing, recovering what is on it takes priority over everything else.

Can this be done remotely?

Most of it, yes. Slowdowns, software faults, malware, account problems and setup work are all handled over a secure screen-sharing session. Hardware upgrades and failing drives need the machine in front of us.

Do you work on both Windows and Mac?

Yes, both, including moving between them when someone switches from one to the other.

Is it worth repairing an older laptop?

Sometimes. A machine that is otherwise healthy but slow is often transformed by a solid-state drive and more memory. A machine with a failing board, a swollen battery and no remaining support usually is not, and you will be told so before spending anything.

Describe what your computer is doing.

A sentence or two is enough. You will get an honest answer on whether it is a quick remote fix, a hardware problem or something worth replacing.
